Men's Packing List
Men's Packing List
The handcart companies were under strict guidelines as to what they could and could not bring because a handcart is pulled by the traveler. Pioneers were also focused on leaving out things that are a burden to the spirit and its growth. Please leave the following items at home: any electronics, make-up, magazines, toys, candy, junk food, etc. The only exceptions to the above list are health-related and should be noted on your personal medical information form for our medical staff. Cameras should also be left at home. We will be taking pictures of the families.
□ Bring a sack lunch from home for Tuesday.
Please label all your personal items with your name.
** If an item is not on the list, please don’t bring it. All items listed are needed so please bring them. Everything must fit in your bucket except your sack lunch, water bottle, sleeping bag and ground pad. All sleeping gear must fit into a standard 30 gallon size garbage sack that is tied shut--please double or triple bag your gear**
Clothing (Items include what you are wearing when you leave)
2 long sleeve cotton shirts (better for sun protection)
2 pair cotton or hiking pants (Jeans/Levi’s are not recommended)
Wide brim hat with chin strap—it is windy (baseball caps not recommended)
Suspenders or belt
Pajamas or sweat pants and shirt (if you tend to get cold at night, you could also bring a beanie hat)
Light jacket/sweatshirt
Rain poncho
2 pair shoes (old tennis shoes and/or broken-in boots)
5 pair socks
1 pair old nylon socks/stockings with feet intact or a synthetic liner sock—wear these under your socks each day while trekking to prevent blisters. Pushing and pulling a handcart causes your feet to slip in all different directions in your shoes and will likely cause blisters without some type of synthetic liner.
4 pair underwear
